“Mahatma”, Srikanth’s 100th movie directed by Krishna Vamsi will be releasing tomorrow (October 9). The movie was scheduled for release on 2nd October i.e. on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, but was delayed as the Censor Board refused to give approval. The board raised certain concerns over few controversial scenes in the movie and advised the movie makers to remove them. After getting clearance from the board and overcoming all controversies, the movie is scheduled for release this Friday.

“Mahatma” is said to carry a good message for the audience. Krishna Vamsi, who is rating among the top directors of Telugu Cinema, is said to have worked hard on the movie, which is also Srikanth’s 100th movie, to make it a grand success. “Mahatma” is produced by Manohar CR under Golden Lion Films banner. Vijay Anthony is being introduced as music director with the film.

Bhavana is playing the lead female role in the movie. The other star cast of the movie includes Charmy Kaur, Ahuti Prasad, Brahmanandam, Jayaprakash Reddy, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao, Uttej, Ram Jagan, Jyothi, M S Chowdary, Nayudu Gopi, Jonna, Jayavani, Subhashini and Radha Kumari.

In a rare but interesting combination, Prakash Raj, the winner of Best Actor National Award, and Boomika Chawla are pairing for the first time. Earlier, both of them acted in few movies like “Okkadu” and “Sambha” in which Prakash Raj played villainous roles. Now, they are getting ready for an offbeat in the direction of a debutant director Teegala Kripakar Reddy. The movie is yet to be titled. The other cast and crew members are still to be finalized. Kripakar Reddy is himself producing the movie.

It is learned that Prakash Raj demanded a pay of 60 Lakhs for the film. Many people who have heard this are opining that the remuneration charged by Prakash Raj is a reasonable one, as he is really worthy of it.

“Kanchivaram” directed by Priyadharshan is the winner of the best National Award Film. Prakash Raj won the best actor award for this role in the movie. “Kanchivaram” is now being dubbed into Telugu. The movie is expected for release in Telugu in the last week of October.

The sensor board raised concerns over few objectionable scenes in the movie. One of such scenes that the board feared would create problems after the release is the lyric ” indiramma inti peru kaadhura gandhi ……..” The board advised filmmakers to remove such scenes to receive approval for theatrical release. The filmmakers opined that the central theme of the movie would be spoiled if the scenes suggested by the Board are cut. But the board asserted that unless such scenes are cut, it would not certify the movie for theatrical release.

Earlier, “Mahatma” has been in news for some good reasons. This mega project is Srikanth’s 100th film. The opening function of the movie was graced by big shots like Chiranjeevi and Dasari Naraya Rao. The audio of the movie was released by the grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. But now, the controversial bug hit the movie and the release is postponed to 9 October. Earlier, the movie was scheduled for release on October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi.

Mahatma is not about Mahatma Gandhi we are talking about. It is a new movie starring Srikanth. He will score a century with “Mahatma” in his career. This film is directed by Krishna Vamsi. We all know about Khadgam (2002) setting new records at the box office in which Krishna Vamsi and Srikanth teamed up. Now they intend to repeat the same with Mahatma.
